two months which kind of falls apart.

dialogue is not enough.’
She had to forget her professional training: ‘It was about unlearning technique and forgetting how to breathe.’
Director Todd Phillips said that he felt the pressure after the success of The Joker.
He said: ‘I’m more nervous of this one than the first one.
The first one we were under the radar, this one
everyone was writing on the internet about it.’
The Warner Bros film is released on October 4th.
After the release of the first film, Joaquin shut down rumours he only
ate an apple a day to achieve his astonishing weight loss,
telling Access Hollywood that he consumed more food
than that — though not much more.
‘It wasn’t an apple a day. No, you’ve also got lettuce and steamed green beans,’ he said of what he
ate in preparation for the role.

While speaking with Access Hollywood, Joaquin explained he
consulted with a doctor to ensure he lost weight as safely as possible

The Her star recalled how the producer always had
the one food item he craved on hand, which made his diet a bit more of a struggle.
‘Todd did have these f*****g pretzels that I love. And he’d just have bags of them in his office!’ he said.
‘And that was difficult.’
Joaquin’s character is wearyingly thin in the film, and he admitted that he
had reservations about taking on such a drastic weight loss.
‘It’s a horrible way to live,’ he told the New York Times.
‘I think [the Joker] should be kind of heavy. Todd was like,
‘I think you should do the real thin person.”
Joaquin previously said his extreme diet helped him prepare for the role in more ways than one.
‘The first thing for us was the weight loss — I think
that’s really what I started with,’ he said of working with the film’s director.
‘And, as it turns out, that then affects your psychology.
You start to go mad when you lose that amount of weight in that amount of time.’

TOKYO, Oct 23 (Reuters) – Philip Morris International Inc
released cheaper versions of its IQOS “heat not burn” products in Japan on Tuesday as it tries to revive sales and ward off competition from other alternatives
to conventional cigarettes.
As regular e-cigarettes with nicotine-laced liquid
are effectively banned in Japan, the country has become the main market for “heat not burn” (HNB) products, which emit less smoke and
smell less than conventional cigarettes.
Philip Morris, maker of Marlboro cigarettes, was first to start selling HNB products in Japan in 2014.
But after an initial surge in sales last year, it has run into competition from British American Tobacco and Japan Tobacco Inc , and its market share has stopped
growing in recent quarters.
The companies slashed prices of their heating devices earlier this year, as competition intensified.
“Clearly IQOS sales have slowed down” since their launch
in Japan, Philip Morris CEO Andre Calantzopoulos told reporters on Tuesday.
But he said the increased competition was not necessarily
a bad thing in the long run if the increased choice made the products more popular among consumers.
A new “HEETS” line priced at 470 yen ($4.18) a pack would be available from Tuesday,
he said. That is cheaper than Philip Morris’s current HeatSticks,
tobacco rolls used with IQOS devices, which are priced at 500 yen per pack.
“Clearly, for some people, spending 30 yen more, 40 yen more per day is expensive,” Calantzopoulos told Reuters in a separate interview.
In mid-November, the company will also release newer versions of its “IQOS 3” and “IQOS 3 MULTI” devices.
The existing versions will still be available at current prices.
Philip Morris, the world’s largest publicly traded tobacco company, has seen weaker-than-expected growth in IQOS recently, after building a leading position in the global HNB market.
Japan accounts for about 85 percent of the $6.3 billion HNB market,
according to Euromonitor.
Philip Morris says IQOS has a 15.5 percent share in Japan’s overall tobacco market, including conventional cigarettes, but market share
has stabilised.
“I think it’s natural in any category that you have slowdowns,” Calantzopoulos said.
“We have people who adopted earlier and people who are more conservative.”
Philip Morris has also made a marketing application to the FDA for IQOS, which would allow the company to sell it with a claim of
reduced risk.
Philip Morris was spun off from Altria Group Inc nearly a decade ago, and Altria will
commercialise IQOS in the United States.
Calantzopoulos said permission for commercialisation would come hopefully before the
end of the year and Altria was “ready to launch”.
A Reuters report in December identified shortcomings in the training and professionalism of some of the lead investigators in the clinical trials submitted to the
FDA by Philip Morris.
On Monday, Philip Morris drew accusations of hypocrisy after using
a four-page newspaper advertisement to urge smokers to quit cigarettes.

Anthony Albanese has tried to claim his relationship with Alan Joyce was a strictly professional one between a Prime Minister and a corporate
titan, as he battles claims the Qantas boss was his ‘personal travel
agent’ for free flights and upgrades.
However that characterization of the relationship was at odds with that made by Mr Joyce, who said he
was ‘good mates’ with Mr Albanese and had been ‘for years’.
In the wake of the explosive claims that the Prime Minister had Mr Joyce arrange free tickets and
upgrades, Mr Albanese distanced himself from the Qantas
chief.
When asked about about their relationship on Sunday Mr Albanese implied it was
purely in a professional capacity, having been Transport Minister and shadow
transport spokesperson before becoming Prime Minister.
‘He (Joyce) was the CEO of the national airline …
I had the same relationship with him that I have with John Borghetti as the CEO of Virgin,’
Mr Albanese said.
That assessment was at odds with the many photos
showing Mr Albanese and Mr Joyce apparently greatly enjoying
each other’s company.
Mr Albanese and Mr Joyce were pictured in high spirits on the
red carpet at the Qantas 100th Gala Dinner in March
last year.
In photos from the event, Mr Joyce proudly walks
the red carpet with one arm around the prime minister and the other around Mr Albanese’s partner, Jodie
Haydon.
Just five months later, in August, a smiling Mr Albanese attended Qantas’s unveiling of it’s special ‘Yes 23′ emblazoned
airplanes for the Voice referendum.
Former Qantas CEO Alan Joyce jovially walked the red carpet with one arm
around the prime minister and the other around his partner,
Jodie Haydon for a special anniversary event last year
Mr Joyce was seen touching Mr Albanese’s arm, with the PM bursting into laughter.
Even when Scott Morrison was PM, Mr Joyce enjoyed an apparently close relationship with Mr Albanese as the pair stood close together at the launch of the Qantas’ landmark Perth
to London flight in March, 2018.
During a Senate hearing in September 2023, Mr Joyce said
he had been ‘friends for years’ with Mr Albanese.
Asked about why he gifted Mr Albanese’s son Nathan a membership to the prestigious and exclusive Chairman’s Lounge Mr Joyce refused to confirm or deny
but talked up his relationship with the Prime Minister.
‘I’ve been good mates with Albo for some time,’ Mr Joyce said.
However, the then Qantas CEO refused to say whether he
lobbied the Prime Minister on the controversial decision to lock competitor Qatar Airways out of
domestic routes.
It has since emerged in a new book about Qantas, The Chairman’s Lounge, by former Australian Financial Review columnist Joe Aston that Ms Haydon is also a Chairman’s
Lounge member.

Reports have emerged in a new book Mr Albanese received 22 upgrades from economy from Qantas and he would
liaise personally with the former airline boss for them.
Aston also alleged Mr Albanese directly contacted Mr Joyce while in his various parliamentary jobs to ask
for special upgrades for himself or his family.
According to unnamed Qantas ‘insiders’ 11 of the 22 flights Mr Albanese received upgrades
for were ‘privately funded’ and included overseas trips to Rome,
London, Los Angeles and Honolulu, with some being
for holidays.
Mr Albanese insisted on Tuesday that the London flights was for work purposes
and all were ‘declared in the appropriate way’.
Opposition Leader Peter Dutton has leapt on the accusations describing Mr Albanese as being the ‘best friend’ of Mr Joyce.
Mr Dutton told Sky News on Monday night it was ‘strange’ Mr Albanese
had directly contacted Mr Joyce to request upgrades while holding a regulatory position in the transport sector.
‘If you’re the Transport Minister and you’re picking up the phone to one of
the most important stakeholders in the portfolio asking for a free upgrade, then again, I think the Prime Minister would
be able to answer those questions more effectively than anyone else because I’m not aware of anyone else having done it,’ Mr Dutton said.
It has since emerged that Ms Haydon also
has membership of the Qantas Chairman’s Lounge
The Prime Minister denied frequently asking Mr Joyce for upgrades on Tuesday at press conference in the NSW city of Newcastle.
‘The only discussions that I can recall with Alan Joyce certainly
were not discussed through calls – we discussed the first flight from Australia to Dubai on the A380,’ he said.
‘I’ve declared everything in accordance with all of the rules.’
Aston was asked on Monday night by ABC interviewer Sarah Ferguson about how confident he was that Mr Albanese had made
calls personally to Mr Joyce for upgrades.
‘I am very comfortable with my sourcing,’ Aston said.
Asked whether he thought Mr Albanese had been influenced by Mr Joyce’s lobbying to block UAE airline Qatar domestically Aston said it was ‘implausible’ to think that the Prime Minister’s office had
nothing to do with the decision.

‘It’s very hard to imagine a decision of any political sensitivity in the Albanese government that would not go through the Prime Minister’s office,’ Aston replied.
He noted the opening up of the Australian domestic market Qatar had seemingly been sailing
through with Transport Minister Catherine King speaking warmly about
the proposal until ‘everything changed’ to stop it dead in tracks.
Ms King repeatedly denied in parliament the decision to block Qatar was due to Qantas lobbying her or any Labor colleagues.
Despite Mr Albanese claiming he declared every upgrade received from
Qantas the Australian Financial Review reported on Tuesday that he failed to do for
his former wife Carmel Tebbutt when the two traveled together.

‘This is all a question of integrity. Most
Australians struggle to afford even an economy airfare.
They’d never be able to afford the luxury of business
class. It’s out of our reach,’ she said.
‘Can Albanese truly be impartial when it comes to making decisions about Qantas when he’s been getting tens of
thousands of dollars worth of free upgrades to business class?
The revelations puts the decision he made as transport minister and prime minister under a cloud.
‘Aside from the integrity issues, this revelation is also politically
lethal. Albanese took care to curate a self-image of a housing commission boy
who made it. But now the perception is cementing of a long-term pollie enjoying the perks of public office.’
Another awkward paradox of Mr Albanese’s apparent close relationship with Mr
Joyce is that the Labor leader in a trade unionist advocate
while Qantas attempted to break the power of the Transport Workers Union by sacking 1700 staff during Covid.
The sacking has since been ruled illegal by Federal
Court in a case brought by the union with Qantas facing possible hundreds of thousands in compensation payouts.
The friendship however did find one perhaps unlikely
defender in semi-retired 3AW radio star Neil Mitchell.
‘Quick test: upgrade Albo is a bad look,’ Mitchell wrote on X.
‘But does anybody believe he was seriously compromised by having Alan Joyce as a bestie?
Time to rewrite rules governing politicians.’

An invitation to lunch at Caviar Kaspia was, once upon a time, an offer you simply didn’t
refuse. Providing, of course, that the bill was on someone else.
Because caviar, smeared on blinis or piled high
on baked potatoes, sure didn’t come cheap. There may have been other things on the menu, but
no one paid them much heed. This was all about lashings of the black stuff.
Caviar Kaspia’s signature baked potato and caviar: ‘there are
few better dishes on earth…only the price, at just under £150, is ridiculous’
Caviar Kaspia popped her final tin about two decades back.
And that site, hidden down a smart Mayfair mews, was taken over by Gavin Rankin (who used to be
the boss), and transformed into the brilliant Bellamy’s.
It prospers to this day. Kaspia, on the other hand, went quiet.
Until last year, when she reopened as a members’ club in another Mayfair backstreet.
But a £2,000 a year membership fee proved hard to swallow, meaning the doors were
opened to the great unwashed.
Which is how we find ourselves sitting in a rather handsome – albeit near empty
– dining room, lusciously lavish, under
the stern gaze of a stern painting of a very stern man.
The soft, crepuscular gloom is broken up by the glare of table
lamps, indecorously bright, while a loud soundtrack of indolent, indeterminate beats throbs in the background.
The whole place is scented with gilded ennui.
Our fellow diners are two young South Korean women of pale, luminescent
beauty, clad in diaphanous couture. They don’t
speak, rather communicate entirely via camera phone. Pose, click, check, filter, post.
Immaculate waiters hover in the shadows.
We sip ice-cold vodka, and eat a £77 caviar and smoked-salmon Kaspia croque monsieur
that tastes far better than it ought to. Next door,
a large table fills with a glut of the noisily, glossily confident.
We’re looked after by a wonderful French lady of such effervescent charm and charisma that had she burst into an impromptu performance of ‘Willkommen’, we would have barely blinked.
Baked potatoes, skin as crisp as parchment, insides whipped savagely hard with butter
and sour cream, are a study in tuber art. A cool jet-black splodge of oscietra caviar, gently saline,
raises them to the sublime. Only the price, at just under £150 each, is ridiculous.
But there are few better dishes on earth. I’d eat this every day if
I could. But I can’t. Obviously. That’s the problem with caviar.
One taste is never enough.

Lady Gaga is set to release her seventh studio album in February.
Despite lead single Disease stalling on the Hot 100 at No.
27, the 38-year-old is forging ahead with her next album, which she described as
both ‘fun’ and ‘darker.’
Speaking to Vogue magazine about the project, Gaga said that
she’s been focused on the production side of her new
songs.
‘I love producing — I always have — and something that was really important
to me making my seventh studio album was blending live instrumentation with
programming,’ she explained.
‘The album is chaotic from a genre perspective — it is genre-bending, and I think in that way is a deeply personal
look into my mind as a producer and the way I think about music.’
She also said that the album has a ‘darker pop’ sound that’s more in line with her iconic 2009 album, The Fame Monster.
However, fans need not be worried that Gaga is going
too somber with her sound.
‘The album is not extremely serious in that it’s
very fun and meant to be enjoyed at a party, in a
club, or at home having personal fun time — to be free of your worries at home
or walking through life,’ she insisted.
Lady Gaga is focused on releasing her seventh studio
album this February following the disappointing reception to lead single Disease
Gaga released the album’s lead single Disease last month to rave reviews from music critics, who lauded it as a return to the star’s roots.
Unfortunately, the acclaim failed to translate
to the charts, with Disease debuting at No.
27 on the Hot 100 – her worst entry for a lead single in 16 years.
On the bright side, Gaga is currently enjoying one of
her biggest hits in years thanks to her Bruno Mars duet,
Die With a Smile.
The ballad has so far reached No. 2 on the Hot 100 and No.
1 on the Pop Airplay Chart.

The follow-up to the Oscar-winning 2019 film, starring Joaquin Phoenix as Arthur Fleck (Joker) and Gaga as
Lee Quinzel (Harley Quinn), faced negative reviews from critics before its October 4 release and flopped at the box office.
Tim, 39, who played a guard at Arkham Asylum in the movie, said Todd Philips’s new film has ‘no plot’ and admitted
he knew it was ‘going to bomb’ while filming.
Speaking on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast, Tim said:
‘It’s the worst film ever made.
Gaga told Vogue magazine that she’s been focused on the production side
of her new songs
Gaga released the album’s lead single Disease last month to rave reviews from music critics,
but the song flopped on the Hot 100
‘I think what happened, after the first Joker, there was a lot of talk like, “Oh, this was loved by incels. This was loved by the wrong kinds of people. This sent the wrong kind of message. Male rage! Nihilism!” All these think pieces.
‘And then I think, “What if we went the other way,” and now they have
Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga tap dancing to a point where it’s insane,’ he continued.
‘It has no plot. We would sit there, me and these other
guys were all dressed in these security outfits because we’re working at the
Arkham Asylum, and I would turn to one of them and we’d hear this
crap and I’d go, “What the f*** is this?” And
they’d go, “This is going to bomb, man.” I go, “This is the worst thing I’ve ever seen.”
‘We were talking about it at lunch, and we’d go, “What is the plot? Is there a plot? I don’t know, I think he falls in love with her in the prison?” It’s not even hate-watchable.
That’s how terrible it is.’

Hamas’ leader Yahya Sinwar could have given an order to execute all the hostages who remain in Gaza if
he died, a top Israeli negotiator has claimed.
Sinwar died on Wednesday after the IDF encountered him by chance, sending a
drone to kill the terror leader.
Gershon Baskin, the Israeli negotiator who oversaw Sinwar’s 2011 release from an Israeli prison, along with 1,026 Palestinian prisoners, in exchange for the return of kidnapped soldier Gilad Shilat,
said that his death was a ‘moment of either opportunity or a
moment of doom.’
‘A moment of doom because there are rumours that Sinwar instructed people holding hostages that,
should he be killed, they should kill their hostages,’
he told the Telegraph.
At the time of Sinwar’s death, just over 100 hostages
remained in Gaza, with 60 thought to still be alive.
Those who remain alive are at risk of never being returned to their families, according Haaretz,
which reported on Sunday that top US officials, including Secretary
of State Anthony Blinken, have assessed there is a slim chance of
a deal being brokered, given the tensions between Israel and
Hamas.

A senior Israeli official told the newspaper on Sunday,
several days after Sinwar’s passing: ‘There are currently no serious
cease-fire talks, and Blinken is fully aware of this.’

They added: ‘It’s unclear how Sinwar’s death will impact any potential negotiations, if they even exist at this stage.’
While Baskin told the Telegraph that it wasn’t possible to confirm whether Sinwar had a kill
order on the hostages, he said the rumours ought to be taken seriously, given how
little Hamas appears to care for them.
He cited the horrific killing of six hostages in tunnels under Rafah in late August.
Israeli military spokesman Daniel Hagari said the six were ‘cruelly murdered
by Hamas just a short time before we got to them.’
The six dead hostages were identified as Eden Yerushalmi, 24,
Carmel Gat, 39, Almog Sarusi, 26, Alex Lubnov, 26, Ori Danino, 25,
and Hersh Goldberg-Polin, 23.
Five of those who were recovered had been attending the
Nova music festival when Hamas terrorists began slaughtering festivalgoers,
while taking others hostage. Gat was at her family kibbutz when she was captured.

He said the return of the hostages depended entirely on whether Israel is able to make a deal with Hamas.
‘It’s a moment of opportunity where Israel
should be issuing a very clear call that anyone who’s
holding a hostage that releases them will be given free
passage for themselves and their family out of Gaza to another country, as well as a lot
of money.
‘In order to encourage them to do that, Israel should also
be reaching out to Egypt and Qatar and tell them to
renew the negotiations quickly, not on the deal that’s been negotiated without success for almost four months, but on a deal that would bring the hostages home quicker and would
obviously require Israel to end the war.’
He said a deal would likely mean the release of Palestinian prisoners, a controversial point for
many Israelis who believe that their release would simply lead to another October 7-style attack in the future.

Fox News Correspondent Tom Murro told RadarOnline.com the siblings were involved
in a screaming match during a recent shoot, after she failed to visit him
in hospital.

Hamas’ leader Yahya Sinwar could have given an order to execute all the
hostages who remain in Gaza if he died, a top Israeli negotiator has
claimed.
Sinwar died on Wednesday after the IDF encountered him by chance,
sending a drone to kill the terror leader.
Gershon Baskin, the Israeli negotiator who oversaw
Sinwar’s 2011 release from an Israeli prison, along with 1,026 Palestinian prisoners, in exchange for the return of kidnapped
soldier Gilad Shilat, said that his death was a ‘moment of either opportunity or a moment of doom.’
‘A moment of doom because there are rumours that Sinwar instructed people holding hostages that, should he be killed, they should kill their
hostages,’ he told the Telegraph.
At the time of Sinwar’s death, just over 100 hostages remained in Gaza, with 60 thought to still be alive.
Those who remain alive are at risk of never being returned to their families, according Haaretz, which reported on Sunday that top
US officials, including Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, have
assessed there is a slim chance of a deal being brokered, given the tensions between Israel and Hamas.

to confirm whether Sinwar had a kill order

Rafah in late August.
Israeli military spokesman Daniel Hagari said the six were ‘cruelly murdered by Hamas just a short time before we got to them.’
The six dead hostages were identified as Eden Yerushalmi, 24, Carmel Gat, 39, Almog Sarusi, 26, Alex
Lubnov, 26, Ori Danino, 25, and Hersh Goldberg-Polin, 23.
Five of those who were recovered had been attending the Nova
music festival when Hamas terrorists began slaughtering festivalgoers, while
taking others hostage. Gat was at her family kibbutz when she was captured.

Despite the negative reviews a number of fans of the sequel took to social media after its release last month to defend the sequel to Todd Phillips’ 2019 motion picture.
The film debuted to a paltry $40 million at the domestic box office,
good enough for the weekend’s top spot, but less than projections,
and half that of its predecessor.
Amid the early returns, a number of fans took up for the movie and its cinematic depth,
in breaking away from the cookie cutter nature of sequels to introduce a
musical element not present in the first film, with Lady Gaga joining the franchise.
‘Joker 2 was amazing,’ one user said, adding that it was ‘100% as
divisive as people are making it out to be. I love that the film
didn’t try to be a traditional sequel, and fully committed to the
storytelling they presented. It never deviated to be a film full of Easter eggs or any other crowd pleasing
aspects.’
Another user said, ‘I kinda loved Joker 2. I loved
how it was structured as a meta-exploration of the first film’s fandom and
the musical elements were a lot of fun.’

“I know people that work for the Border Patrol, and they’re really upset because this current administration has really tied their hands up. They’re not really able to do anything,” Lopez said.

But the referendums may not have the clear impact on the race for the
White House that activists hope.
Polls show Trump and Harris running neck-and-neck in Arizona,
with the Republican holding a very narrow lead.

So the abortion issue may not be “helping Democrats in the way that they would hope,” said Jenny Brian, a professor of bioethics at Arizona State University.

on the Arizona ballot question finding support not just among Trump Republicans but also “moderates and even many Democrats,” said John Kavanagh, a
Republican and an Arizona state senator.
The 74-year-old Kavanagh is unimpressed by Harris’s recent toughening on migration, specifically her promise to maintain the partial closing of the border Biden ordered in recent months.
The vice president, Kavanagh said, is “running away faster from her open-border policy than an illegal immigrant that runs away from the Border Patrol.”

Another, u/DonSmitty said a ‘buddy in high school’ covered his girlfriend (including her genitals) in chocolate syrup.
But it didn’t end well — she got infected with a ‘crazy’ yeast infection.
Doing it in a storage unit was another unusual fantasy which ended badly.
User u/isthisfark wrote: ‘There’s a closing time and if you miss it you’ll get stuck behind the gates for the night.
